An officer with the Montgomery County (MD) Police Department who was found shot atop a Silver Springs parking garage had suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to officials.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner of the District of Columbia said that it has been determined that 38-year-old Thomas Bomba died by suicide, the Washington Post reports.
Bomba had called over his radio that he was responding to "disorderly subjects" on Monday evening. Moments later, backup officers arrived and found Bomba wounded.

He was transported to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
Bomba is survived by his wife and two children.
