Tennessee Deputy in ICU After Being Hit by Rock or Brick

A Knox County, Tennessee, Sheriff’s deputy is in Trauma Intensive Care at a local hospital after being hit in the head with a  brick or rock, the sheriff’s office reports in a Facebook statement.

Deputy Dalton Swanger responded to a 911 call about a shooting around 10:15 p.m. Saturday (June 21, 2025). The suspect was at the scene and reportedly struck Deputy Swanger with a rock or brick causing grave injury.

The deputy was immediately transported to a hospital where he was assessed as being in critical condition.

Christopher Michael Hensley, 44, has been charged with several felonies related to the attack, including attempted second-degree murder and aggravated assault on a first responder.
