Two Milwaukee, Wisconsin, officers were shot Thursday night when they responded to the report of a man with a weapon. The call was updated to indicate the man was firing shots.
According to a Milwaukee Police Department press release, the officers were unexpectedly fired on while in an alley while approaching the call location. Both were struck and not able to return fire.
One of the officers, a 32-year-old male with over six years of service, was transported to a hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries. He is in critical condition, the department reported Friday.
The second officer, a 29-year-old male with over six years of service, was transported to a hospital for treatment of non-fatal injuries. He is in stable condition as of Friday.
Several hours after the shooting, around 2:15 a.m. Friday, Milwaukee police arrested the suspected shooter. Criminal charges will be presented to the Milwaukee District Attorney’s office in the upcoming days, and the case is being investigated by the Milwaukee Police Department.
