An off-duty officer with the Kansas City (MO) Police Department reportedly responded to the sound of an intruder in his home and opened fire on the suspect.

An off-duty officer with the Kansas City (MO) Police Department reportedly responded to the sound of an intruder in his home and opened fire on the suspect.

According to the Kansas City Star, the officer was alone in his home at the time of the incident.

The suspect reportedly fled the home on foot and was unable to be located. It was unclear whether the intruder was actually struck by gunfire.
