A group of suspected drug traffickers who were fleeing a police boat off the coast of Spain ended up rescuing their pursuers after the two watercraft collided on Friday.

According to Fox News, the incident happened off the coast of Costa del Sol after Spanish maritime patrol agents were trying to intercept a boat suspected of carrying drugs that had four people on board.

The two vessels collided, causing three police officers to be ejected from their boat and into the water.

A police helicopter also in pursuit called out over a loudspeaker, asking the suspected drug runners to provide assistance to the three officers in the water.

They hauled the officers aboard, and were then arrested on suspicion of drug trafficking.
