Iowa Officer Shot Thursday Now in Stable Condition

An officer with the Davenport (IA) Police Department who was shot Thursday afternoon is now in stable condition and expected to be okay.

An officer with the Davenport (IA) Police Department who was shot Thursday afternoon is now in stable condition and expected to be okay.

According to KWQC-TV, officers approached two suspects acting suspiciously, and both fled. A brief pursuit ensued and shots were fired.

Both suspects were taken into custody. Scott County Sheriff's Office said 27-year-old Brett Samuel Dennis faces several charges including attempt to commit murder.

Davenport Chief of Police Paul Sikorski said on Facebook, "There was an amazing response from both on-duty and off-duty officers and local emergency responders. I would like to personally thank all of the emergency personnel, medical staff, dispatchers, and community members who responded in our time of need. I ask for your continued prayers and support for our officer and family, and for everyone who puts on a badge each and every day."
