An officer with the Town of Wallkill (NY) Police Department helped rescue a suicidal man on Saturday. It was only the second day that the officer had been on the job.

According to the Times Herald-Record, Officers John Zonneveld and Angela Acierno responded to a call in which a man was threatening to jump from a freeway overpass. At the time, Zonneveld was training Acierno, who was on her second day on the job.

Officer Zonneveld talked with the subject and Acierno maintained a perimeter around the individual. As the two officers interacted with the man, state Trooper Steven Calderon grabbed the man and pulled him away from the edge.
