Ashby Booth was also given a nylon vest that included a toy gun, a whistle, a flashlight, handcuffs, a walkie-talkie, a T-shirt, and his own agency identification badge.

The boy had told his parents that all he wanted for his birthday was to visit the Athens-Clarke County Police Department.

The parents contacted interim Athens-Clarke County police Chief Mike Hunsinger, who told the Athens Banner-Herald, "I said if there's anything we can do to help make it special for him, we'd like to try."

Ashby was given a full tour of the department's headquarters, and then given a ride in one of the agency's squad cars.
