The Fort Myers (FL) Police Department must complete a few unanticipated steps before construction can begin on its new headquarters building, starting with the cleanup of ground found to be contaminated with toxic chemicals.
According to WINK-TV, cleanup of the recently discovered contamination will cost an estimated $300,000 and delay construction for an undetermined period of time.
The new facility—once completed—will allow the department to house all of its operations in one location, including its training unit.
