Uvalde County, TX, is communications infrastructure, tactical gear, and ballistic shields to aid police in responding to school shootings.

Three safety initiatives were adopted by the Uvalde County Commissioners Court Monday, with the most expensive being a decision to open the bidding process for a new $300,000 communications tower.

Ineffective radio communication was a major problem during the May 24 attack at Robb Elementary that left 19 students and two teachers dead, News 4 reports.

Also approved was $55,000 of tactical safety equipment for five county constables and authorization to pursue a state grant for 22 bullet-resistant shields.
