Mother of Men Charged in Murder of Chicago Officer Arrested for Assaulting Officer

Police say the woman, later identified as Evalena Flores, of Chicago, caused a disturbance at Christ Hospital in Oak Lawn around 10 a.m. Tuesday when she was refused access to her son, Emonte, who is hospitalized but in police custody.

The mother of the two brothers charged in the murder of Chicago police officer Ella French is now also in police custody.

Police say the woman, later identified as Evalena Flores, of Chicago, caused a disturbance at Christ Hospital in Oak Lawn around 10 a.m. Tuesday when she was refused access to her son, Emonte, who is hospitalized but in police custody, WGN reports.   

Emonte Morgan is charged with shooting and killing Officer French and critically wounding her partner. 

Oak Lawn police said Flores kicked a Chicago police officer in the groin before she was taken into custody. She has been charged with battery, resisting a peace officer and criminal trespassing.

Police told Fox News they contacted the Cook County State's Attorney's Office for approval of felony charges against Flores. But after reviewing the case, the office charged Flores with misdemeanor offenses, including battery, resisting a peace officer, and criminal trespass to real property.
