A man was found dead at a Houston motel early Monday after he reportedly opened fire on police. Officers were responding to a report of shootings at the property.

Police say the suspect killed two people on the second floor of the building and then started firing on people in the parking lot, wounding two.

The suspect was found dead on the second floor. It's not known if he was killed when police returned fire or if he took his own life. The identity of the gunman has not been released, KHOU reports.

Police believe the gunman made the 911 call that brought them to the scene. He reportedly told the dispatcher that he was planning to shoot at officers if they responded.

No officers were injured in the incident.
