An officer with the Anderson City (SC) Police Department was killed early Friday morning in a head-on vehicle collision.

According to NBC News, the Anderson County Coroner's Office confirmed that Sergeant Ethan Kaskin was behind the wheel of his patrol vehicle on a local highway when an SUV travelling in the opposite direction crossed the centerline and collided with the squad car.

Kaskin was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision, while the driver of the civilian vehicle—identified only as a 22-year-old woman—reportedly survived and was transported to a nearby hospital with undisclosed injuries.
