Union Says Seattle Officers Struggling with Morale After Chief's Resignation

“It’s going to be really difficult to even get police officers to come here in the future because public safety is at risk,” Union head Mike Solan said.

Seattle police officers are "struggling" with low morale in the wake of Chief Carmen Best's resignation and city council efforts, according to Seattle Police Union leader Mike Solan

“This is even bigger than Chief Best,” he told KOMO News and flat out asked who would want to be Seattle's Police Chief.

“It’s going to be really difficult to even get police officers to come here in the future because public safety is at risk,” Solan said.

The city council budget cuts mean 100 less officers. Solan insists less officers means more crime. And that's a tall order for a new chief.

“It's very frustrating where we are right now,” Solan said.
