Arkansas Officer Charged with Manslaughter in Fellow Officer's Death

An officer with the Alexander (AR) Police Department has surrendered himself to Arkansas State Police and has been charged with manslaughter in the death of a fellow officer earlier this year.

An officer with the Alexander (AK) Police Department has surrendered himself to Arkansas State Police and has been charged with manslaughter in the death of a fellow officer earlier this year. 

According to ABC News, Officer Calvin Salyers was served an arrest warrant for the killing of Alexander Police Officer Scott Hutton in early June following an investigation into an incident in which Saline County Deputies found Hutton unresponsive and suffering from at least one gunshot wound as Officer Salyers attempted to perform life-saving care.

EMS and other responders soon arrived at the scene and Hutton was transported to a nearby hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Further details of the incident have not been released.

Salyers is being held on a $15,000 bond.
