An officer with the St. Cloud (MN) Police Department was shot in the hand over the weekend while trying to arrest an armed teenage subject. However the story told on social media sites said that police had shot a black youth, sparking public outcry.

According to CBS News, police say they had responded to reports of a subject wielding a gun and upon arrival at the scene encountered an 18-year-old male—whose name has not been released—fleeing the area on foot.
