A man has been arrested following a lengthy standoff after he reportedly shot and wounded at least one police officer early Monday morning.
According to InForeny.com, a man—whose name has not yet been released—allegedly shot at officers with the Kemp (TX) Police Department during a domestic dispute that kicked off an hours-long standoff in the town of Mabank, located about 60 miles southeast of Dallas.
According to a press release from the Kemp Police Department, Kemp police officers were assisting the Mabank Police Department with a domestic disturbance call. When police officers made entry into the residence, they heard noises in the attic, and the suspect opened fire through the ceiling—striking a Kemp Police Department sergeant.
The wounded officer was transported to a hospital for surgery and was in stable condition, City of Kemp Mayor Laura Peace told inForney.com.
The gunman was transported to a nearby hospital with unspecified injuries.
