A man who reportedly shot and wounded an officer with the Waterville (ME) Police Department in December has been charged with attempted aggravated murder.

According to Bangor Daily News, the man—identified as 29-year-old Richard Murray-Burns—has been hospitalized since the December 22 incident in which he exchanged gunfire with Officer Timothy Hinton.

Upon his release from the hospital on Wednesday afternoon he was immediately arrested and booked into the Somerset County Jail.

Officer Hinton was treated and released from the hospital on the same day of the incident.

According to the attorney general’s office, this was the seventh officer involved shooting in Maine in 2019.
