According to the New York Post, the suspect—identified as 27-year-old Stephen Gillard—shot a 26-year-old man several times in the torso outside a bodega in Queens over the weekend.

While first responders transported the gunshot victim to a nearby hospital, police searched for the gunman. Two hours after the incident, two plainclothes officers—Alex Schneider and Dillon Tonne—located the suspect. A gunfight ensued, and the subject was killed.
