Following the incidents of officers with the New York Police Department being doused with buckets of water, a group of volunteers in the Canarsie section of Brooklyn organized a special tribute to thank officers for their service.

The event took place on Saturday afternoon, and attracted at least a dozen volunteers and several police vehicles.

The NYPD 69th Precinct posted to Twitter several images of the event, with the caption, "Thank you @AltidorKenny for bringing #Canarsie together for this wonderful event. Thank you @SenatorPersaud @GGbrazel @MoonsamCecil, Councilman Maisel, our #youth and entire #community. What a great gesture to wash our cars! We are proud and privileged to serve and protect you!

One volunteer says he hopes activities like this will help to strengthen the relationship between the community and the officers.
