Officer Cody Carpenter was shot multiple times when he and his partner approached the vehicle of a man wanted in the abduction of a North Carolina teen.
The official statement from the U.S. Capitol Police Department was measured and vague as to the cause. According to the police, "Officer Brian D Sicknick passed away due to injuries sustained while on duty."
Capt. David Jackson said police received several reports Tuesday night of sideshow activity across the city. Jackson said callers reported “street racers, dangerous driving and shots fired.”
Tyler Thompson, 22, was charged with interference with child custody, with the Edgewater Police Department adding a charge of traveling to meet after using a computer to lure a child, according to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office. Additional charges are pending.
