Actor and veterans advocate Gary Sinise is planning a concert (Concert for the Defenders) to honor Ventura County, CA, first responders on April 13. The concert will feature Sinise's Lt. Dan Band and Grammy-nominated artist Five for Fighting.

A statement said the concert, which will be held at California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks, honors those who were lost in the recent Woolsey and Hill fires and the men and women who responded to the disasters as well as the professionals who responded to the Borderline Grill active shooting.

The concert is free and open to the public, "offering an evening of music, food and fun, as well as the opportunity to pay tribute to those who serve selflessly to protect our freedom, security, and well-being," the statement says.

It adds, "As Gary Sinise is a member of this community, it is his hope that a healing community strong concert will provide some support in honor and remembrance of the sacrifices during this time.

Venue for the event is William Rolland Stadium. Doors open at 4 p.m. Those planning to attend should RSVP at www.ConcertForDefenders.com
