The Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office identified the deputy who suffered critical injuries in a car wreck Wednesday morning while he was on his way to respond to what would turn out to be a homicide call.

Deputy Bill Foreman, 55, has been with the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s office for 25 years.

Foreman had to be extricated from his vehicle after he was involved in a crash near Iliff Avenue and South Valentia Street just before 6 a.m.

He was rushed to the Medical Center of Aurora, where he was continuing to receive care as of Wednesday night, KUSA TV reports.

The other driver involved has been charged with careless driving causing injury and failure to yield right of way.

Though he did not know it at the time, Foreman was responding to an incident in the 7500 block of East Harvard Avenue that left a 6-year-old dead.
