SWAT officers surrounded the motel where a San Antonio Police officer was shot in the head after responding to a domestic dispute on Monday.

The officer, Aaron Terrazas, was taken to San Antonio Military Medical Center. He is expected to survive his wounds, reports the San Antonio Express-News.

The suspect barricaded himself in a first-floor room of the Super 8 Motel and SWAT officers began trying to communicate with him.

Terrazas was shot after responding to the motel at 7:53 a.m. The suspect reportedly shot him through the door. A nearby off-duty officer was alerted to the shooting on his police radio and went to the hotel to transport Terrazas to the hospital.
