The Albuquerque Police Department reports that one of its K-9s was killed Thursday (May 29, 2025) during a SWAT operation.

K-9 Rebel was assisting the SWAT team “as they attempted to arrest an armed suspect,” police said on Facebook. He was fatally shot during the incident.

“Rebel was a loyal and courageous member of the Albuquerque Police Department for seven years and served our city with honor and bravery.

“He was not only a partner to his handler but a valued member of our police family. His dedication and service will never be forgotten,” APD said.
