He was transported to a local hospital where he died.
"Our thoughts, prayers, and heartfelt condolences go out to his family, friends, and fellow officers," said Superintendent Kevin Hendrick in a message to school leaders. "This is a profound loss for our school district and the broader law enforcement community. Sergeant Graff was a dedicated public servant who made a lasting impact on the safety and well-being of our schools."
Sgt. Graff worked for Pinellas County Schools Police for seven years. He worked for Clearwater Police Department from 2016-2018 and previously served at the City of Douglasville (Georgia) Police Department for 29 years.
Sgt. Graff is survived by his wife, three children, and six grandchildren.
