A Fort Wayne (Ind.) Police sniper ended a stand-off Wednesday afternoon that began when a suspect pulled a woman off a city bus, killed her, and took a 3-year-old hostage.

The Fort Wayne PD's Emergency Services Team and Crisis Response Team responded to a residence on Holton Avenue following the fatal shooting of Jacqueline Bouvier Hardy, 49. Police believe Kenneth Knight, 45, fatally shot his ex-girlfriend, who had a protective order against him.

Emergency Services Team operators were authorized to take out Knight, after the suspect barricaded himself in the home with a 3-year-old who wasn't related to him or Hardy, reports the News-Sentinel.
