Yonkers, New York -- Kimber is producing a special edition of its premium .45 ACP pistols to support the Hunting and Shooting Sports Heritage Foundation's Heritage Fund. A founding member of the Heritage Fund, Kimber took this action not only to raise money, but also to increase awareness of the Heritage Fund at dealer and consumer levels. Based on the Kimber Custom model and built in their Custom Shop, each Heritage Edition pistol includes custom features like checkered front strap, ambidextrous safety, Premium Aluminum Trigger, special markings and special serial number. Suggested retail price is $1,065, an incredible value compared to other production or custom 1911 pistols with similar features and quality. For each pistol sold, Kimber will contribute $200 to the Heritage Fund to support their public relations campaign, firearm safety and education programs, and legal efforts on behalf of the firearms industry and American gun owners. Strong initial sales have already allowed a contribution of $100,000 and much more is expected to be raised when the pistols reach Kimber dealers. These pistols must be ordered by December 31, 2000 from any of the 1,400 Master Dealers across the country. Edition size will depend on actual number of orders received. Complete information on Kimber pistols, rifles and accessories, plus the location of the nearest Kimber retailer will be mailed to those sending $2 to Kimber, 1 Lawton Street, Yonkers, NY 10705 or calling 1-800-880-2418. All information is available on the Kimber website at www.kimberamerica.com.
