Wisconsin Man Loots, Burns Cruiser After Joyride

Sonny King faces charges including recklessly endangering safety, attempted arson, and felony theft. King was arrested Wednesday at his parent's house.

A 22-year-old man is behind bars after Hobart-Lawrence (Wisc.) Police say he stole a squad car and tried to set it on fire.

Earlier in the morning, Officer George Dillenberg approached a suspicious car parked near the Brown County golf course with its lights off and iced over. When officers approached the car, the driver sped off, circled back and sideswiped a cruiser.

After ending up in a ditch, King and his passengers fled on foot and King was able to enter an unlocked cruiser, which was found later with its camera and GPS unit stolen. A phone book had been set on fire in the front seat.
