Ala. Agency Converts 30 Vehicles to Propane Autogas

The Mobile (Ala.) Police Department is converting 30 cruisers to run on clean propane autogas, according to Alliance Autogas.

The new autogas-powered vehicles are funded through a Department of Energy grant with vehicle conversions and fuel supply provided by Alliance AutoGas.

Other Alabama fleets making the switch to propane fuel through Alliance AutoGas include the Alabama State Docks, Baldwin EMC, the Department of Agriculture & Industries, the counties of Lee , Greenville, Pickens, and Greenwood, and the  Vestavia Hills Police Department .

Propane autogas fleets currently pay around $1.25 per gallon less than gasoline, and many fleets report their vehicles require less maintenance. Autogas is 30% cleaner than gasoline, and 98% of the U.S. supply is made in America, according to Alliance Autogas.
