Lenco Industries has introduced a version of its BearCat armored rescue vehicle suited to tactical EMS missions for law enforcement and the military.
The BearCat MedEvac LE (also known as the "MedCat") was designed to meet the combined requirements of SWAT and tactical EMS teams, while the BearCat MedEvac MIL was designed specifically for Tactical Combat Casual Care (TC3) within the defense sector, according to Lenco.
All BearCat models are built with Mil-Spec steel armor plates certified to defeat multiple hits from 7.62 AP (Armor Piercing) or .50-caliber BMG rounds. Ceilings and floors provide enhanced blast and fragmentation protection. Ballistic glass windows provide superior clarity and can defeat multiple hits, according to Lenco.
In addition to this protection, the lengthened MedCat provides space for multiple stretchers—two for the police version and four in the military model—that mount to the vehicle's walls. The vehicles are equipped with oxygen tanks, a lighted work station, and ample compartments for medical supplies and gear storage. To meet non-medical needs, the MedCats have a roof hatch with a gunner's stand, gun ports, and a radio compartment work station for communications.
The MedCat is built on a heavy-duty commercial truck platform, so warranty-covered repairs, maintenance service, and part replacements can be performed at most OEM dealers, truck centers, and retail parts stores, according to Lenco. Contact the company for pricing.
