Motorola announced the Los Angeles Regional Interoperable Communications System Authority (LA-RICS) during the Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials' (APCO) conference in Anaheim, Calif.
The radio system, when built, will provide mission-critical communications for more than 34,000 law enforcement, fire and EMS professionals. The five-year contract could be worth as much as $280 million.
Motorola has agreed to design, construct, and maintain the land-mobile radio (LMR) system that will feature Astro 25 Phase 2 700 MHz and UHF digital capabilities.
