Louisiana Deputies Exchange Fire with Drug Suspects
When officers made eye contact with the individuals, deputies said they began to act suspiciously. As the officers drove around the block to approach the subjects through the open lot, they saw two of the males walking away from them on James Drive. The subjects turned into an alley between James Drive and Charleston, and the officers lost sight of them.

A Louisiana trooper died Monday after he was shot by an apparently stranded motorist who stood over the officer and told him afterward, "You're lucky — you're going to die soon," state police said.

Louisiana Officer Killed Wednesday Night, Suspect in Custody
According to police, Officer Thomas LaValley responded to the 3500 block of Del Rio Street around 9:15 p.m. for a call of a suspicious person making threats. Police say LaValley contacted the person and was shot multiple times in the upper body. He was later pronounced dead at University Health.

Video: Louisiana Theater Gunman Planned Escape But Committed Suicide When Police Arrived
Police say he tried to escape by blending into the crowd that was fleeing, but he turned back when he saw police heading inside from the parking lot. Officers followed him back into the theater, where they heard a single gunshot and found him dead.
