An Indianapolis Metro Police Department deputy chief has been cleared of wrongdoing in the mishandling of blood evidence involving a suspended officer.
Deputy Chief Valerie Cunningham has returned to duty as the deputy chief of administration overseeing the department's support services division. She was cleared April 22, reports the Indianapolis Star.
Also in mid-April, Chief Paul Ciesielski accepted a demotion to captain and took responsibility for a vial of Officer David Bisard's blood that was moved and stored improperly.
