$4.8 Million in Gold Taken from Truck in North Carolina Robbery

A reported $4.8 million gold heist Sunday night brought the sheriff’s investigators to a tractor-trailer that was parked on the shoulder of the heavily traveled interstate that crosses through Wilson County.

The normally pitch-black stretch of Interstate 95 in North Carolina was illuminated only by a dozen Wilson County Sheriff's squad cars and emergency vehicles.

A reported $4.8 million gold heist Sunday night brought the sheriff’s investigators to a tractor-trailer that was parked on the shoulder of the heavily traveled interstate that crosses through Wilson County.

Three suspects reportedly took numerous bars of gold that had been placed in barrels, said Wanda Samuel, sheriff’s office chief of staff.

The Wilson Times has learned that about 275 pounds of gold was reported stolen from the tractor-trailer parked along a heavily wooded area.
