Lawmakers in South Carolina are considering legislation that would add firing squads as an option for execution of individuals sentenced to the death penalty in the Palmetto State.
According to The Independent, the proposal was approved by the House Criminal Laws subcommittee on Thursday.
The proposal was made when lawmakers were made aware of the fact that correctional facilities do not have enough lethal injection drugs to handle the number of inmates sentenced to death, and they don't know how to acquire more.
South Carolina's last execution was May 2011.
