Existing officers and potential recruits with the Johnson City (TN) Police Department now have a new facility in which they will receive academy and in-service training following a ribbon-cutting ceremony late last week. City commissioners and administrators, police officers and former police chiefs joined Johnson City Police Chief Karl Turner for the occasion.
The agency said in a press release posted to Facebook that the new building has a 60-person classroom, conference room, administrative offices, and other necessary facilities such as a small kitchen.
"This new building gives the department a safe and comfortable environment with modern amenities to conduct training for our officers and law enforcement personnel from around the region," said Chief Turner.
The 5,000-square-foot facility replaces portable classroom buildings.
