The City Council approved $1.9 million to purchase 2,500 trackers from AssetWorks to equip city vehicles with the tracking and monitoring system, reports the Columbus Dispatch .
Sgt. Jim Gilbert, president of Fraternal Order of Police Capital City Lodge No. 9, said the installation of the GPS devices would need to be negotiated in the collective bargaining process.
