The stealth vehicles help the New York State Police enforce distracted driving violations under the Concealed Identity Traffic Enforcement (or CITE) program, reports the Huffington Post.
In 2012, Gov. Cuomo repealed a 1996 order that banned police use of unmarked cars to combat police impersonations. New York is one of 11 states that ban the use of hand-held phones while driving. On July 1, Gov. Cuomo signed into law tougher penalties for texting while driving for new and younger drivers.
