A Statesville, NC. police officer has been charged with failing to yield the right of way to a pedestrian after authorities said she struck a 4-year-old child with her patrol car last week. The boy was walking with his mother at the time and is expected to be OK.
According to the Statesville Police Department, Officer A.E. Kestler was heading to a suspicious activity call around 8:30 p.m. Officers said she pulled up to a downtown intersection and started to turn when her cruiser hit the child, who was in a crosswalk.
