Video: SC Detective Wounded in Tuesday Ambush Dies
Doty was shot during an ambush and shootout early Tuesday morning near the town of York. He was a member of a county SWAT team searching for a suspect who had shot a K-9 handler hours earlier, authorities say. Two other law enforcement officers were wounded in the ambush.

The dash cam video shows the driver, Jeshua Gilmore, and his girlfriend Skye Thibodeaux, 18, get out of the car. Thibodeaux runs into the cornfield. Gilmore fires four shots at Deputy Jeremy Simon, who calls for help.

"While the breeders originally named the dog 'Alfa,' today a new name was chosen for him by Deputy McCartney's three sons who named him 'Dan.' With the name comes great expectations—brave, strong, hard working. We know K-9 Dan is up to the challenge and are so excited to have him join our family," the Pierce County SO said on Facebook.

SC Sheriff: Detective "Hanging on to Life" After Shooting
Tolson said Det. Mike Doty was "very critically" wounded during a 3:31 a.m. gunfight with the suspect. He addressed the public, saying, "We need your continued prayers." He added that York County law enforcement appreciated the outpouring of support from the community.

MS Bill Would Allow Ambulances to Transport Injured K-9s
The bill, filed by Rep. Jay Hughes, D-Oxford, said any law enforcement dog used by a police enforcement or governing agency of a county or municipality injured or wounded in the line of work would be eligible for transport.

Gang Member Accused of Shooting TN Officer Captured
Wilson was wanted by the Knoxville Police Department on a charge of attempted first-degree murder of a police officer. On Thursday, police say a Knoxville officer initiated a traffic stop on Wilson's vehicle. Wilson exited and began shooting at the officer, striking the officer once.

Wilson opened fire on Officer Williams with a shotgun while being pursued by the officer, Rausch said. He then stopped his car, got out, and fired multiple rounds at the officer before driving away.

The arrest is the latest in an investigation that earlier yielded an indictment against dozens of members and associates of the “Nine Trey Gangsters” Oct. 12. The wounded driver “was the lone suspect that was not apprehended from that investigation,” the FBI said.
