A Florida deputy and an Amazon truck driver are being credited with rescuing three women from a car that crashed into a canal.

Indian River County (FL) Sheriff’s deputy Dan Whittington was on his way to an unrelated call on the afternoon of  Oct. 8, when he spotted a partially submerged vehicle upside down in a canal, the sheriff’s office reports on Facebook.

Deputy Whittington and an unidentified Amazon driver entered the canal to help the people in the vehicle.

Deputy Patrick Newman also arrived on the scene to assist with the rescue. And Indian River County Fire Rescue assisted and ultimately transported the women safely to local hospitals, the sheriff’s office said.
