Since about 9 a.m. Tuesday, Boston police and SWAT teams were on Ferndale Street negotiating with a barricaded person who was believed to be armed.

Throughout the day, negotiators attempted unsuccessfully to get the suspect to surrender peacefully.

The suspect's stepmother told WCVB that she invited him to visit for a couple of hours but he stayed for 10 days and wanted keys to the house. She said when she asked him to leave at about 8 a.m. Tuesday, he pulled out a gun and threatened to kill her and his half-brother.
