A Pagedale, Missouri, Police K-9 that escaped his kennel and ran away during a storm Wednesday has been found in nearby Florissant and returned to his handler.

K-9 Raider, a three-year-old Dutch shepherd, was found in a Florissant backyard by a Florissant officer.

“He’s got some scrapes and things like that,” Pagedale Officer Justin Cull, his handler, told the Post-Dispatch. “It looks like he might have lost a little bit of weight. Other than that, he’s just tired. So he ate a bowl of food, and he’s laying in his crate in the house right now. I’m getting ready to give him a bath and get him to the vet.”

Pagedale Police said a tree came down on his fence during the storm and that may have spooked the dog, KSDK reports.
