A Cobb County, GA, police officer was shot in the chest while responding to a domestic in Acworth Sunday afternoon. He was saved by his body armor.

“The man drew a weapon and point blank shot the officer in the chest,” Sgt. Wayne Delk with the Cobb County police told WSB. “The officer was wearing a vest.”

After an hours-long search police fatally shot the suspect. The suspect reportedly shot at an officer and the officer returned fire, killing the suspect. The suspect's identity has not yet been released.

Police said the officer was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
