A Massachusetts State Police trooper was shot in the hand Friday night during a traffic stop in Hyannis. The round went through his hand and was stopped by the trooper's body armor, preventing additional injury.

The wounded trooper has been identified as John Lennon, 28. He has been released from the hospital.

Police say the suspects fled the scene after the shooting.

The suspects’ car was recovered on Saturday morning in the parking lot of the Hastings Meadows housing complex. Police scoured the area all night and throughout the day searching for two suspects, CBS Boston reports. They have not been apprehended.
