An off-duty officer with the Guthrie (TN) Police Department stopped a domestic dispute from turning deadly as it devolved into a shooting in the parking lot of a local bar over the weekend.

According to Clarksville Now, Officer Austin Richardson arrived at the bar with the intention of taking home some of his friends when he saw a domestic assault that quickly escalated into a shooting.

The gunman—identified as 29-year-old Henry Demetrius Shannon—had pushed a woman to the ground and then drew two handguns and began firing, striking two vehicles but reportedly not wounding any people.

Officer Richardson then drew his firearm and shot Shannon in the arm. Shannon was transported to a nearby hospital where he was treated and released into police custody.
