Two Texas officers—one with the Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) Police Department and one with Garland PD—were wounded when a man who hijacked a DART bus opened fire on them.

According to NBC News, the man—identified as 31-year-old Ramon Thomas Villagomez—took the bus containing a lone female passenger after police sought to question him in the death of his girlfriend in San Antonio earlier this month. He was also wanted on a charge of aggravated assault.

Villagomez reportedly opened fire on officers as they pursued the hijacked bus.

Officers ended the pursuit by deploying spike strips. Villagomez then emerged from the bus, presented his weapon toward officers, who then fatally shot him.
