A 20-year-old man has been denied "youthful offender" status in the slaying of Mobile Police Officer Sean Truder earlier this year.

According to AL.com, 20-year-old Marco Perez reportedly shot and killed Officer Truder during an altercation in the parking lot of a local hotel.

Perez's attorney—Dennis Knizley—noted in proceedings that his client had been granted "youthful offender" status in several previous cases, including vehicular breaking and entering.

After being denied youthful offender status, Perez pleaded not guilty to all charges including capital murder.
