Florida Department Must Clean Up Chemicals from Future Site of Headquarters

The Fort Myers (FL) Police Department must complete a few unanticipated steps before construction can begin on its new headquarters building, starting with the cleanup of ground found to be contaminated with toxic chemicals.

The Fort Myers (FL) Police Department must complete a few unanticipated steps before construction can begin on its new headquarters building, starting with the cleanup of ground found to be contaminated with toxic chemicals.

According to WINK-TV, cleanup of the recently discovered contamination will cost an estimated $300,000 and delay construction for an undetermined period of time. 

The new facility—once completed—will allow the department to house all of its operations in one location, including its training unit.
